The National Crime Prevention Council of Hungary was established on the 12th of April 2011. For the first time we celebrated this day as the official day of crime prevention to raise awareness of the importance of cooperation in the creation of safe communities. Our stakeholders organized different crime prevention programmes all around the country in honour of this day.

On the 16th of April the foundation-stone of the ’Shape your space’ project was laid off.  After long months of preparations Mr. Róbert D. Kovács, Major of Kőbánya, Mr. József Hatala, president of the National Crime Prevention Council, Mr. László Béla Tóth, president of the Foundation for Public Safety of Kőbánya laid off the foundation-stone of the project. The initiative aims to reconstruct a 1500square meter park by using the CPTED principles. We launched our new anti-bullying campaign! Cyberbullying became a recurrent topic in crime prevention. The National Crime Prevention Council of Hungary developed easy explain videos to address victims, bullies and bystanders. (The videos are available in english as well.)

Mystery in Little Woods is a play based on our children book collection ’Tales of Forest Town’ written by our colleague, Mrs. Judit Diószegi. Thanks to the cooperation of the National Society of Student and Youth Journalists and the Ministry of Interior, each year more and more students have the chance to deepen their knowledge about crime prevention. This year, more than 15.000 youngsters filled out the online questionnaire in the first round of the big crime prevention quiz. The second round and the final were held within the framework of the 26th National Youth Press Festival.
